It’s a Tamil dubbed film released in Telugu as Kara.
The story is set in 1980-1990 era, Kara(Dhaush) is a thief in remote villages and towns of Telugu states, after getting nearly caught during a robbery he vows not to do robbery again and starts to lead normal life doing odd jobs with his wife Selli(Mamitha Baiju).
During the process he realises to lead a better life he needs to sell his land in Village and start Business.
Once he goes to the village to get his land and to meet his father(K.S Ravikumar) he finds out the whole village is in debts with land papers with the bank for surety. After seeing the situation in villages he develops grudge against the union banks for fleecing the poor farmers with interests, processing charges, late fees and exorbitant penalties.
The rest of the story is how Kara turns thief again to rob the same banks and get the poor farmers lands back by paying principal and interest with robbed money.
Director Vignesh Raja has taken up a good theme which is very much a prevalent problem in Indian villages with peasants, but execution and drama is not convincing at times looks silly.
It’s an age old Robinhood theme of helping the poor farmers by breaking the law.
Jayaram did well in a supporting role as bank manager taking advantage of the situation by robbing banks with his own people with insider information and blaming Kara.
Dhanush and K.S Ravikumar father son drama fitted the narration well highlighting farmers problems in villages.
Suraj Vasudevan suited the role of DSP perfectly with interesting episodes of cat and mouse games when on trail to catch Kara.
It’s a film with a good theme but not packaged well for the common audience.
Rating: 2/5
