The film is inspired by the dramatic true events of India’s 1990 economic crisis featuring the institutional framework between the Reserve Bank of India and Government of India.

The story is set in 1990 it starts with IAS officer Raman(Manoj Bajpayee) inspired by true character S.Venkitaramanan(former RBI governor) who was serving as finance secretary being appointed as Reserve Bank of India Governer during Chandra Shekhar minority government on recommendation of Ex P.M Rajiv Gandhi considering his financial acumen.

In that year India was in a deep financial crisis by a severe balance of payments crisis.Foreign exchange reserves plummeted to under $1billion leaving India on the verge of bankruptcy.

The film depicts a series of events during that time how RBI Governor Raman along with his team and then finance minister Yashwant Sinha prevented India from being bankrupt.

Working with IMF for loans for a favorable budget for foreign investors and eventually pledging gold to banks of Switzerland and U.K to avoid national default , in the process how they get blamed for selling India and selling India gold was shown interestingly.

Manoj Bajpayee as S.Venkitaramanan was perfect for the role of RBI governor depicting true character.

Madhoo Shah as RBI governor wife was okay with her little financial saving tips inspiring RBI governor Manoj Bajpayee to implement at her high level.

It’s an interesting story intertwined with the India’s  political and financial crisis history of the 90s before P.V Narsimha Rao government liberalisation policies.
