The Tamil film Jana Nayagan is dubbed into Telugu as Jana Nayakudu.

The film is narrated  in flashback mode where in village in Tamilnadu people are scared to go out and vote freely to elect their leader, police officer who goes there on election duty tells the story of Vetri(Vijay) of his deeds in protecting the democracy to inspire villagers to go out and vote freely.

Vijay’s story begins with him being in Jail for a reason, during his stay in Jail he becomes close to Jailer Gautham Vasudev Menon and Jailer facilitates Vijay early release.Later Gautam Menon’s daughter becomes orphaned and Vetri(Vijay) becomes her caretaker.

In Tamilnadu politics Roja Rangaswamy(Prakash Raj) is an opposition leader who aspires to be a C.M in unlawful ways by using the support of International mafia don John hilmler(Bobby Deol).

Bobby Deol is an International mafia don who destabilizes and changes governments at will, during such process he dethrones fictitious country Swasnia president by creating a civil war in the country and he uses that country as a base to setup of toy factory and exports arms hidden in toys to India.

The rest of the story is about Bobby Deol M&M mission to create civil war in Tamilnadu and India by using caste, region and religion divide by using imported arms, his hatred for democracy, how paths of Vijay, Bobby Deol, Paths cross in the past when they work in police department, fast forward how it leads to their ultimate tussle linking his foster daughter (Mamitha Baiju).

It’s a tailor made film for Vijay, after becoming C.M being his last film director H Vinoth has made sure it has all the elements to please his fans, Pooja Hegde as Vijay’s love interest had minimal screen presence but was effective.Primani role as I.A.S officer was brief and it was okay.

Vijay and his foster daughter (Mamitha Baiju) thread is emotional and sentimental, the film duration is lengthy, in second half hero elevations, fights are repetitive and become boring. With many layers and sub-plots at times becomes confusing.

Vijay and antagonist ( Bobby Deol) fights are Remote controlled warfare by using robots, drones.Anirudh music is okay and his background score impactful in certain scenes.

Threat to democracy comes from dirty politics and Bobby Deol enforced controlled democracy and the rest of film is all about the hero Vijay as the saviour of democracy.

Rating : 3/5
