Proudly joining the list of this year’s Dubbing Blockbusters, Papa has recreated the same magic in Telugu that it delivered in Tamil. Producer Neeraja Kota expressed her happiness over the film securing a place among the most successful dubbed films released so far this year. She added that it is purely the love from audiences across all sections that helped Papa withstand the box-office wave created by Kubera and Kannappa, and continue to create buzz in theatres across both Telugu states even in its third week.
Papa was released in Telugu on June 13 under the JK Entertainments banner, with dubbing efforts led by Neeraja herself. The film stars Kavin and Aparna Das as the lead pair, with veteran actors Bhagyaraj and VTV Ganesh playing key roles. Directed by Ganesh K. Babu, Papa became a box-office hit in Tamil with record-breaking collections.
The music by Jen Martin, cinematography by Elil Arasu, and the lyrics penned by Ravivarma in simple, relatable language have all added to the film’s charm. Neeraja highlighted that extra care was taken to ensure Papa feels more like a remake than a typical dubbed film. She credited director Ganesh Babu’s storytelling as a key factor behind the film’s success, along with the captivating chemistry and intense conflict between Kavin and Aparna Das.
Neeraja concluded by saying that the success of Papa has boosted her confidence, and she is now planning a straight Telugu film, with official details to be announced soon.
