Recently, Parliament passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which legally declares Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of Andhra Pradesh.
President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent and the law came into force, this removes uncertainty over the capital after years of political dispute.
The Bill was supported by many parties in Parliament, including the Congress, and Renuka Chowdhury took part in the debate and spoke in support of making Amaravati the capital during the Rajya Sabha discussions.
And she also supported in naming Amaravati as Kammaravathi, given her strong T.D.P connections in the past and vociferous support of T.D.P bills in the current term, speculations are doing the rounds that she may join T.D.P soon.
