The story unfolds against the backdrop of the Mughal invasion of Tamil Nadu.

Around 75% of the film’s shoot took place extensively in Mumbai, and a few other key portions were also shot in Senji, Thiruvannamalai, and Kerala.

A major highlight is how this epic historical narrative connects with the story of the first part, Draupathi, making this the much-awaited second instalment in the franchise.

India’s pathetic sports infrastructure

0

India, a country with a massive population and a deep-seated love for sports, continues to struggle with a significant hurdle: its often-pathetic sports infrastructure and a severe lack of quality grounds. This issue isn’t just a minor inconvenience, it’s a fundamental roadblock that hinders the development of athletic talent and prevents the nation from achieving its full potential on the international stage.

The State of Playgrounds and Facilities
Across India, the reality on the ground is often disheartening. While a few major cities boast world-class stadiums and academies, the vast majority of local sports grounds are in a state of disrepair. A common sight is an uneven, rocky, or dusty field that doubles as a cricket pitch, a football ground, and a space for community gatherings. These conditions are not only suboptimal for skill development but also pose a high risk of injury to athletes.

* Lack of basic amenities: Many sports grounds lack even the most basic facilities like proper changing rooms, clean restrooms, and drinking water.
* Poor maintenance: Existing facilities, even those that were once well-built, often fall into neglect due to a lack of funding and proper management. For example, a skating rink in Surat, once a promising facility, is now a wasteland overgrown with weeds.
* Urban vs. Rural Divide: High-quality facilities are concentrated in urban areas, leaving rural regions, which are often a hotbed of raw talent, with virtually no proper infrastructure. This creates a significant barrier for aspiring athletes from smaller towns and villages.

The Consequences of Neglect
The lack of proper sports infrastructure has a domino effect on the entire sports ecosystem.
* Injury and Performance: Training on uneven surfaces with poor lighting and no modern equipment can lead to serious injuries and fatigue, preventing athletes from performing at their best.
* Discouraging Talent: The absence of quality facilities discourages young, aspiring athletes, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, who cannot afford expensive private academies. This leads to a loss of a huge pool of potential talent.
* Limited Exposure: Without quality local grounds and stadiums, India cannot host enough national and international tournaments at the grassroots level, which is crucial for giving athletes competitive exposure.

Why the Gap Exists
Several factors contribute to this persistent problem.
* Insufficient Funding: While the government has increased its sports budget, the investment is often not enough to meet the vast needs of the country. A significant portion of funding also gets mismanaged or lost to corruption.
* Focus on Cricket: The overwhelming dominance of cricket in the country means that most of the corporate sponsorships and media attention are directed toward this sport, leaving others with a significant funding gap.
* Bureaucracy and Policy Issues: Lengthy bureaucratic processes and a lack of a cohesive national sports infrastructure policy lead to inconsistencies and delays in development projects. Many public infrastructure projects suffer from poor construction quality and a lack of a long-term maintenance plan.
* Lack of Public-Private Partnerships: While government initiatives like the Khelo India Scheme and the National Sports Policy are steps in the right direction, there is a need for more robust public-private partnerships to build and maintain sustainable sports facilities.

A Path Forward
The situation is not insurmountable. To truly become a sporting superpower, India must prioritize sports infrastructure as a national asset.
* Grassroots Development: A strong focus on building and maintaining basic, high-quality sports facilities in schools and local communities is essential to identify and nurture talent from a young age.
* Public-Private Partnerships: Encouraging private companies to invest in sports infrastructure through favorable policies and tax incentives can help bridge the funding gap.
* Accountability and Transparency: Implementing stricter regulations and oversight in sports administration can ensure that funds are used effectively and infrastructure projects are completed with high quality.

Ultimately, a nation’s sporting success is a reflection of its investment in its athletes, and that begins with providing them with the fundamental tools and spaces to train and compete.

Naga Ashwin with Rajini?

0

As “Kalki-2” is likely to be further delayed due to various reasons, it is reported that Naga Ashwin is trying to do another project in the meantime.

Although a female-oriented film with Alia Bhatt was planned, for some reason, it didn’t materialize. At one point, even Megastar showed interest in doing a film with Naga Ashwin. But that too stopped at the discussion stage.

However, according to the latest information, news is circulating in Chennai that there is a possibility of a film with superstar Rajinikanth.

It is reported that Rajini liked the story line narrated by the director of Kalki, and Ashwin is preparing for a full narration, and an announcement regarding this will be made soon.

As much as I enjoyed making it, the audience will also enjoy watching it crazily.
Nara Rohit

Hero Nara Rohit’s milestone 20th film is ‘Sundarakanda’. It is being directed by debutant Venkatesh Nimmalapudi and produced by Santhosh Chinnapolli, Gowtham Reddy, and Rakesh Mahankali under the Sandeep Picture Palace (SPP) banner. Vruthi Vaghani and Sri Devi Vijaykumar are the heroines. In a press conference ahead of the film’s release tomorrow, Nara Rohit shared details about the movie.

* “I was actually supposed to make my comeback with ‘Sundarakanda’. We started the script work for this film back in 2022. I was nervous when director Venkatesh told me the idea. But he came prepared with about 30 scenes, and I really liked them. That’s how we started the project. The audience will have a smile on their face throughout the film.”

* “Director Venkatesh has been traveling with me for five years now. We discussed this film a lot, and all those discussions helped us immensely. This story is very new for this generation. I really enjoyed playing this character. ‘Sundarakanda’ is a very clean film with a very fresh treatment of scenes. It’s a film that everyone will connect with.”

* “My character in this film has some limitations. It’s very interesting to see him searching for a girl with the qualities he desires, even after turning 30. It’s a complicated character, and the fun is created from that very complication.”

Tribanadhari Barbarik
Producer: Vijay Paul Reddy Adidala

“Tribanadhari Barbarik,” a film produced by Vijay Paul Reddy Adidala under the Vanara Celluloid banner, is presented by star director Maruthi. Directed by Mohan Srivatsa, the movie features prominent roles played by Sathyaraj, Udaya Bhanu, Vasishta N. Simha, Satyam Rajesh, Kranthi Kiran, and Sanchay Rai.

The film is set to be released on August 29th, and producer Vijay Paul Reddy Adidala shared some insights about it.

“I was busy with my businesses when Mohan told me the story, and I really liked it. Initially, we planned to make the movie with a small budget. Afterward, I met with Maruthi, who advised me to either make the film well or not at all. That’s when I decided to produce the movie on a large scale,” he said.

“This is a new kind of story and is very thrilling. We filmed it very naturally, similar to how films are made in Malayalam. We also added commercial elements that the Telugu audience will enjoy. Even though we initially wanted to make it on a smaller scale, we ended up producing it on a grand scale because the story demanded it,” he added.

“The way we told this story by adding a mythological genre is what makes it unique. We held premieres in Warangal and Vijayawada, where we received a fantastic response. Many people who watched the film were moved to tears and said the movie was amazing. That gave us a lot of satisfaction,” he concluded.
