Official Statement from MAA (Movie Artistes Association)
We would like to bring to everyone’s attention that MAA (Movie Artistes Association) is the only recognized and official association representing artistes across both Telugu states — Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. MAA is affiliated with and recognized by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and the Telugu Film Producers Council.
MAA is also the only artistes’ association that works in coordination with all 24 crafts of the Telugu film industry. We function as a unified body to support, represent, and safeguard the interests of our members.
It has recently come to our notice that some individuals and unauthorized groups are misusing the MAA name and creating confusion by using misleading titles such as “AP MAA”, “MAA AP”, and others. And also illegally collecting money from artistes.
We would like to make this absolutely clear:
✅ There is no such organization as “AP MAA or MAA AP” officially recognized by MAA.
✅ MAA has not authorized any individual or group to collect money on its behalf.
We strongly condemn these fraudulent activities and will take strict legal action against anyone found misusing the MAA name or misleading artistes and the public.
We also urge all artistes not to make any payments or take membership in such fraudulent associations.
Please remain vigilant and cautious, and report any such incidents directly to the MAA Office, Film Nagar, Hyderabad.
Let us stand united to protect the dignity, unity, and integrity of our association.

“My Goal is to be Known as a ‘Beauty with Brains’”: Jo Sharma on Her Debut Thriller M4M
The Indian film industry is abuzz with the upcoming suspense thriller “M4M (Motive For Murder).” Starring American-based actress Jo Sharma and directed by Mohan Vadlapatla, the film is set for a grand worldwide release on May 8. Distributed by PVR Inox Pictures, the movie will hit screens in five languages: Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
In an exclusive interview, lead actress Jo Sharma shares insights into her journey, the film’s unique concept, and its international acclaim.
Highlights of the Interview:

- Unique Concept: A “world-first” plot involving murders modeled after legendary paintings.
- Global Recognition: Already bagged 15 International Awards before its theatrical release.
- Cannes Pride: Received a standing ovation at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
- Audience Challenge: A cash prize of ₹1 Lakh for identifying the villain on release day.
Q: Tell us about yourself and your upcoming film.
Jo Sharma: Hello everyone! I am Jo Sharma, originally from San Francisco, USA. M4M (Motive For Murder) is my debut feature, and it’s a massive project releasing in five languages. Directed by Mohan Vadlapatla garu, I play a character named ‘Radha’—a fierce crime investigative journalist.
Q: Coming from the US, what was your experience working in the Indian film industry?
Jo Sharma: I have a background as a theater artist in America and even run my own theater production company. However, for this film, I trained under Mohan garu for three years. I was also a co-writer for M4M alongside Mohan garu and Rahul Adavala. Being involved in the writing process helped me design Radha’s character with a lot of depth and strength.
Q: The film has already garnered significant international buzz. Could you share details about the awards?
Jo Sharma: It’s been overwhelming! We have won 15 international awards before the release. This includes Best Film at the Los Angeles Film Festival, Best Director in London, and I was honored with Best Actress awards at the New York, Hollywood, and Santa Monica film festivals. The biggest highlight was our global premiere at Cannes, where international audiences gave us a standing ovation. Seeing foreigners connect so deeply with a Telugu-rooted film was a moment of immense pride for us.
Q: What is the USP (Unique Selling Point) of M4M?
Jo Sharma: It’s a seat-of-the-edge murder mystery. The killer in this movie has a very artistic yet dark “signature”—he arranges the bodies to resemble famous masterpieces by legends like Raja Ravi Varma and Picasso. This is a concept that hasn’t been explored globally. To make things more exciting, we’ve announced a ₹1 Lakh prize for anyone who can correctly identify the villain on the first day of release!
Q: Tell us about the production and your roots.
Jo Sharma: The film is a joint venture between Mohan Media Creations and McQueen Group USA. We produced it with high technical standards on a significant budget. Though I live in the US, I was born in Hyderabad and raised in Nagpur and Mumbai. My parents are from Vijayawada and Guntur, so I am fluent in Telugu, Hindi, and Marathi.
Q: Who are your favorite actors in Tollywood?
Jo Sharma: I have immense respect for legends like Chiranjeevi garu, Balakrishna garu, Nagarjuna garu, and Venkatesh garu. I also admire Prabhas garu for changing the image of Tollywood globally with Baahubali. I love the work of Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, and Mahesh Babu, but I am particularly a huge fan of Jr. NTR’s dialogue delivery and acting prowess.

Q: What is your ultimate goal in the industry?
Jo Sharma: I want to be a versatile actor. I love dancing and acting, and I am looking forward to doing roles that blend glamour with high-octane action. Ultimately, my goal is to be recognized as a “Beauty with Brains.” I hope the audience supports M4M and blesses our team on May 8.

Rampant Jewellery Store Thefts in Telangana and Across India — A Growing Concern
Recent weeks have seen a sharp rise in jewellery store thefts and armed robberies in Telangana and other parts of India, highlighting an urgent need for stronger security and preventive action. In one major incident in Telangana’s Karimnagar, a gang of armed men entered a jewellery showroom during daylight hours, opened fire and injured several employees before fleeing with gold ornaments — prompting a police manhunt and strong public reaction.
This incident mirrors broader trends across India, where both violent daylight robberies and stealth thefts targeting high-value jewellery assets have become more frequent. For example:
In Bengaluru, thieves broke into a jewellery shop and stole roughly 70 kg of silver articles worth crores, exploiting weak CCTV systems and vulnerabilities in physical security.
In other regions, smaller but still impactful crimes have occurred where individuals posing as customers have later secretly stolen jewellery from display cases.
These thefts are not limited to any one state or city — growing gold prices, high resale value, and relatively easy resale channels make jewellery stores attractive targets for both amateur and organised criminals.
Why Jewellery Stores Are Targeted
Several factors contribute to the rise in jewellery store thefts:
High intrinsic value of precious metals and gems, which can be quickly liquidated.
Increasing gold and diamond prices, making even small inventories worth large amounts.
Sophisticated criminal methods, including daylight armed robberies, posing as customers, and exploiting weak security systems.
Operational lapses, such as malfunctioning surveillance cameras or inconsistent security procedures.
The Human Cost
These crimes don’t just impact business owners financially — they endanger lives. In Karimnagar, four staff members were shot during the heist and required medical care. Incidents like this can also shake community confidence, affect local commerce, and discourage small business investments.
Steps to Prevent and Minimise Jewellery Store Thefts
1. Enhanced Physical Security
Robust CCTV Surveillance: Install high-resolution cameras covering all entry/exit points and interior areas, and ensure they are functioning 24/7.
Secure Showcases and Display Cases: Use laminated, shatter-resistant glass and reinforcement to slow down smash-and-grab attempts.
Professional Safe and Vault Systems: Invest in BIS-certified safes, vaults, and strong room doors to protect inventory when the store is closed.
2. Trained Security Personnel
Uniformed Guards: Employ trained guards (preferably with experience in retail or cash-heavy business environments) during business hours to deter opportunistic thieves.
Security Drills: Regularly train all staff in suspicious behaviour recognition, emergency response, and silent alarm procedures to better manage threats.
3. Operational Protocols
Controlled Access: Use door buzzers, entry check systems, or queue management during busy hours to monitor customer flow.
Limit Displayed Merchandise: Show only a small number of items at a time to customers — the fewer high-value pieces accessible, the lower the theft risk.
Closing Procedures: Follow strict closing routines — keep high-value merchandise locked in safes before closing, and ensure no one remains inside unsecured.
4. Law Enforcement Collaboration
Regular Reporting: Share crime data and suspicious incidents with local police and other jewellers to help identify patterns.
Rapid Response Agreements: Work with local authorities on faster police response arrangements for alarms and emergencies.
5. Insurance and Risk Planning
Comprehensive Coverage: Obtain tailored jewellery insurance policies that cover theft, robbery, and damage.
Risk Assessments: Perform regular security audits with professional consultants to identify and fix vulnerabilities.
Community and Industry Support
Jewellery associations and local business groups can play a role by:
Running security awareness programs for small and medium jewellery stores.
Coordinating bulk security equipment deals to reduce costs for individual jewelers.
Partnering with police for community safety seminars.
Conclusion
Rampant jewellery store thefts — whether brazen armed robberies or clever inside jobs — pose a serious challenge for businesses in Telangana and across India. These crimes impact financial security and human safety alike. But with stronger physical security, trained personnel, clear operating protocols, coordinated law enforcement efforts, and robust insurance coverage, jewellery store owners can significantly reduce the risk of theft and minimise losses when incidents do occur. Continuous vigilance and proactive planning remain the best defenses against these evolving criminal threats.
