The film Shikandi, starring Yuvraj Gowda, Nikhil, Deepak Shetty, Khyati, and Nikhita Swamy in lead roles, is produced by Pola Praveen Kumar under the Pola Movies banner and directed by Gurumurthy V. The movie is gearing up for a summer release. The teaser launch event was held grandly today at Prasad Labs in Hyderabad.
Story writer Satyadev said – I recently signed a Kannada-Telugu project with a young Telugu hero. I’m happy to meet this Kannada movie team at this event. In the Mahabharata, Shikandi plays a very crucial role. Shikandi is the reason behind Bhishma Pitamaha laying down his weapons. Everyone in this world is born for a purpose. Inspired by such a powerful character, I hope this movie becomes a big success.”
Heroine Nikhita Swamy said – “The makers told me that I would be playing the role of Shikandi. I’ve been doing glamorous roles in Kannada, so I initially doubted whether this role would suit me. But after the director and team explained the visual presentation, I gained confidence in the character and the project. The motion poster released recently in Kannada received a huge response. I hope Telugu audiences will also support our film.”
Actress Neetu Vanajakshi said – “I’m happy to be part of Shikandi. The director has portrayed the story as effectively as he narrated it. All the elements he mentioned are present in the film. I believe you all liked our teaser.”
Actress Chandini said – I didn’t know Shikandi was a character from the Mahabharata. I’m not very educated, so I felt scared when I got this opportunity. Until now, people called us names like ‘kojja’ or ‘chekka.’ I was afraid they might start calling us ‘Shikandi’ after this film. But after the director explained the greatness of the character, I felt proud to be part of this film.”
Music director Pradyottan said – “I composed music for Ram Gopal Varma’s Ice Cream. Recently, one of my Kannada films became a success. I provided the background score for this film. I am a Telugu person, and I’m happy to present my work to Telugu audiences for the first time. They say you must win at home after succeeding outside—I’ve done that. I request everyone to support Shikandi.”

Heroine Khyati said – I’m playing Dr. Sangeetha in this film. The story shows the obstacles she faces while trying to build a hospital for the poor and how those challenges are overcome. The director has presented it very interestingly.”

Director Gurumurthy V. said – “My first film Maranastra, starring Malashree, was remade in Telugu as Maranayudham. While thinking about my second film, I decided to base it on the Shikandi character from the Mahabharata. Initially, the producer didn’t connect with the story, but after I explained it in detail—including the beginning, interval, and ending—he agreed immediately. Shikandi represents divine strength. How we connected that character to a modern-day story will be seen in theaters. Audiences will come out with a heart-touching feeling.”
Hero Yuvraj Gowda said – “When I first heard the story, I didn’t have high expectations. But after watching the teaser, my confidence increased a hundredfold. We’re proud to have made this film. The director presents an important message from the Mahabharata. I hope Telugu audiences support it.”
