Film Critics Association Will Always Be Our Affiliate

The Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) President Virahat Ali affirmed that the Film Critics Association has always been an affiliate organization and will continue to remain so. He stated that the association has been operating from the Bashirbagh Press Club for decades and will continue to do so in the future as well.

On Saturday afternoon, the President of the Film Critics Association, Suresh Kondeti, along with other members, met TUWJ President Virahat Ali at his office and submitted a memorandum requesting the restoration of their office space at the Bashirbagh Press Club. On this occasion, they felicitated him with a shawl and a bouquet.

Key Highlights:
Senior Member Lakshman Rao: He mentioned that the association has been functioning from the same building for decades. While there has been a slowdown in activities recently, he assured that regular operations would resume from the same premises moving forward.

Association President Suresh Kondeti: He compared the bond between the Film Critics Association and the Press Club to that of a mother and child. He expressed their wish to continue this relationship and emphasized that all future activities would be conducted from the same office. He appealed to the TUWJ President to restore the office to their association.

Former President Prabhu: He stated that the Film Critics Association has been established for a long time and has always operated from the same building, never moving elsewhere. He reiterated that the association would continue to remain an affiliate of the TUWJ.

General Secretary Lakshminarayana: He described the Bashirbagh Press Club as the birthplace of the Film Critics Association and likened the bond between the two to an umbilical connection, asserting that the club will always be the association’s home.

TUWJ President Virahat Ali’s Statement:
Virahat Ali acknowledged the decades-long presence of the Film Critics Association at the Bashirbagh Press Club. He explained that while the association had not been using its office recently, another affiliated organization temporarily utilized the space. However, he assured that the office would always belong to the Film Critics Association and encouraged them to resume regular activities from there. He emphasized the association’s status as a permanent affiliate of the TUWJ, a fact regularly reflected in the TUWJ calendar. He pledged continued support to the association.

The event was attended by several notable members, including Hemasundar (Treasurer), Janardhan (Former Secretary), senior film journalists Giridhar, Manigopal, Murali, R.K. Chowdhary, and “Simhasanam” Suresh, among others.
