The boys are back — but this time, they are taking their madness somewhere no one expected. The makers of the 2018 youth favourite ‘Husharu’ have officially announced ‘Husharu 2’, bringing the cult franchise back with a fresh story, a larger world and a completely new adventure. With Sree Harsha Konuganti returning as writer-director, the sequel promises to retain the friendship and youthful energy of the original while pushing the entertainment into a more unexpected space.
The title announcement poster itself sets the tone. A truck carrying the familiar Kaboom beer is caught in an extraordinary visual spectacle, with a giant snake coiling around it, a turtle beneath it, a treasure chest overflowing with gold and a factory looming in the background. The five friends find themselves right in the middle of this madness. The imagery even brings to mind the legendary Samudra Manthan, making the poster an intriguing first clue to the strange and colourful world the sequel is creating.
At the heart of ‘Husharu 2’ are five ambitious friends who find themselves at a low point after losing everything during COVID. Looking for a way to turn their fortunes around, they venture into Chittragunj with an audacious business idea involving an agave-based tequila distillery. What begins as an attempt to build a future for themselves soon opens the door to a world of unexpected complications, giving the friends another wildly unpredictable journey to navigate.
The sequel brings back the creative force behind the original, with Sree Harsha Konuganti once again writing and directing. His return ensures that the franchise’s signature combination of friendship, contemporary humour and youthful chaos remains at its core, while the new setting allows the filmmaker to take the concept in a fresh direction.
The film features Rahul Ramakrishna, Ashok Galla, Ravi Anthony, Dinesh Tej, Sasidhar Kocharlakota, Vidhi Yadhav, Abhignya Vuthuluru, Bhagwan Tiwari, Jatin Goswami and Rajai Rowan.
Produced by Rahul Varma, K. Veena Rani and K. Hanumant Raju, with Komatireddy Sharan Reddy as co-producer, the film is backed by Caveman Stories, HK Films and Kaliyuga Vaaradha Creations. G. Srinivas Reddy handles cinematography, Sunny M.R. is the music director, Ram Miryala is the additional music director, Vijay Vardhan Kavuri is the editor and Srikanth Ramisetty is the art director.
Having completed its major shooting schedules, ‘Husharu 2’ is currently in post-production and is targeting a grand year-end theatrical release. With the title announcement kicking off the promotional campaign, the teaser, first look and more details are set to follow soon.
