The Nordic paradise of Iceland was ranked the safest country in the world for travellers in 2025.
Iceland is a small island country with one major road and a population just shy of 400,000, meaning the likelihood of getting into trouble there is quite small.
It’s rarely crowded and its rates of violent crime are very low.
The country is regarded so safe they don’t have an army and policemen don’t carry guns.
Iceland ranked number nine last year, but this year climbed up to first place by happy travellers who visited it in 2024.
Australia and Canada are the next safest countries to travel in terms of ease of travel, less crime and better policing.
