Superstar Krishna’s last film, “Prema Charitra – Krishna Vijayam”, is set for a worldwide release on January 3.

Soon, a bilingual film in Telugu and Kannada, “Naa Koothuru Love Story”, will be directed by Madhusudhan Hawaldar.

Superstar Krishna’s last film, “Prema Charitra – Krishna Vijayam”, is releasing on January 3. Directed and produced by Madhusudhan Hawaldar, the movie will reach audiences worldwide after overcoming several hurdles. With music by M. M. Sreelekha, the film stars notable actors such as Nagababu and Ali, alongside lead pair Yashwant and Suhasini.

To mark this milestone, director-producer Madhusudhan Hawaldar shared his thoughts:

“My journey as a director began with ‘Vamsham’, a film featuring just three actors: Nagababu, Chandramohan, and Baladitya. It won multiple awards and brought me significant recognition.”

“After ‘Vamsham’, I directed the Telugu versions of Kannada films like ‘America America’ and ‘Number One Hero’. Both movies gave me immense satisfaction and a strong foothold as a filmmaker.”

“My fourth film, ‘Prema Charitra – Krishna Vijayam’, is a golden chapter in my career as I had the opportunity to direct a legend like Superstar Krishna. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the release faced unusual delays. Meanwhile, I became busy directing and composing music for Kannada films.

“However, the thought of Krishna sir’s film remaining unreleased was disheartening. So, I utilized the latest technology to enhance the movie quality and prepared it for release. I’m thrilled that the film is generating good business buzz. We’re releasing it on a large scale across the Telugu states, Karnataka, and other regions. I’m confident Krishna sir’s fans will cherish this film.”

Hawaldar has directed six Kannada films, including Aamarma, December 16, Sree Dasaru,  sree Jagannadha Dasaru, Sree Prasanna Venkata Dasaro, and Sree Vijaya Dasaru, earning him widespread acclaim.

“Currently, I have five projects at various stages of production. Apart from directing, I am a music director as well, composing for my films and others. My upcoming bilingual project, ‘Naa Koothuru Love Story’, is an emotionally intense love story in Telugu and Kannada.”

Telangana’s Cinematic Landscape in 2024

0

In 2024, the Telugu film industry witnessed a surge in movies set against the backdrop of Telangana, offering audiences a diverse range of stories. From blockbuster hits featuring star heroes to unexpected successes, these films captivated viewers, despite some falling short of expectations. Here’s a closer look at notable movies from 2024 that showcased the Telangana essence:

“Tillu Square”: Starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda, this movie became a blockbuster, joining the ₹100 crore club.

“Razakar”: A historical drama set in the 1940s, focusing on the atrocities of the Razakar regime in Telangana, opened to positive reviews and strong box office collections.

“Laggam”: A family entertainer based on a Telangana wedding backdrop performed decently in theaters, striking an emotional chord with audiences.

“Pottelu”: Despite its unique promotional style, the film received an average response.

Other films like “Jithender Reddy”, “Urukupatela”, “Line Man”, “Praveen IPS”, “Kallu Compound”, “Pailam Pilaga”, “Sharathulu Varthistayi”, “Gorrepuranam”, “Bahirbhumi”, and “Keshava Chandra Ramavat” explored Telangana themes but failed to meet expectations. Routine storytelling, poor execution, and lack of production values were cited as reasons for their underperformance.

OTT platforms also saw a significant boost for Telangana-themed content.

“Sarkaru Naukari”, featuring playback singer Sunitha’s son as the lead and presented by veteran director K. Raghavendra Rao, received acclaim from OTT audiences.

“Laggam”, which was a theatrical hit, continued its success on OTT platforms like Aha and Amazon Prime, even gaining popularity in Tamil and Kannada.

Content proved to be the key, with movies finding success on OTT platforms regardless of the cast’s star power.

Prominent directors like Mallik Ram (Tillu Square), Yata Satyanarayana (Razakar), and Ramesh Cheppala (Laggam) gained recognition for their work, drawing attention from the industry.

With hopes high, the industry and audiences alike look forward to more quality films set in Telangana’s backdrop in 2025!
