Motorola on Thursday debuted new versions of its Razr flip phone with artificial intelligence-powered features from its own AI technology as well as that of several companies, including Perplexity, Meta and Microsoft and Google.
The announcement comes as Google takes the courtroom after a federal judge found that the search giant holds a monopoly in the search market. This has stoked concerns that it could similarly end up controlling the AI industry. The prominent placement of Google’s search engine on Android phones helped it achieve that monopoly status, court filings say.
But the new Razr, Razr Plus and Razr Ultra phones, which launch on May 15, are said to be the first phones with Perplexity’s AI app preinstalled – potentially pointing to a future in which Google shares more of the spotlight with its rivals. Perplexity is an AI-powered search engine and research tool that is available on the web and through an app.
“It’s a big day for the future of smartphones,” Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, said during a Motorola press event Wednesday.
Like Apple (AAPL) and Samsung, Motorola is pushing AI as the major selling point of its new phones. But unlike those two companies, Motorola’s phones feature a cocktail of AI models and services from several different providers.

Veteran film journalist, writer, and director Sri Prabhu will preside over the event.
The ceremony will witness the esteemed presence of celebrated actor-producer and former Member of Parliament Maganti Murali Mohan, MLC Smt. Surabhi Vani Devi—daughter of former Prime Minister Late P.V. Narasimha Rao, Chairperson of the Gidugu Ramamurthy Panthulu Foundation Smt. Gidugu Kanthikrishna, Brahmashri L.V. Between 2000 and 2004, Appaji ran twin monthly magazines titled Swathimuthyam and Dheeraj in Rajahmundry. In 2003, he authored the book “Chukkallo Chandhurudu” on Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Following the Alipiri incident, the same book was re-published with minor changes under the title “Mrithyunjayudu – Reborn to Rule”, with five lakh copies distributed, creating sensation!!
Appaji organized various cultural events in Rajahmundry from 2000 to 2004, gaining recognition for programs such as Navvukundham Randi, Navvandi – Navvinchandi, and International Women’s Day Celebrations.
A gifted storyteller with a knack for documenting inspiring life stories, Appaji earned acclaim through cover stories on personalities like Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary, Vanga Geetha, and Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi.
Driven by his passion for cinema, Appaji moved to Hyderabad in 2004 and began his career in the Telugu film industry as a Cinema Reporter. He quickly rose to become an Editor, contributing to magazines such as Cine Star, Chitranjali, and Trade Guide. As a Senior Sub Editor, he also served as the in-charge of the cinema section at Surya daily newspaper. For five years, he successfully ran his own weekly film magazine Swathimuthyam” as Editor.

Our DOP Karthik Ghattamaneni’s father worked in the police department. During his service, a mischievous theft case happened. When Karthik told me about that incident, it sounded very interesting. I asked Karthik to make it into a movie, and he agreed. That’s how this film came to be. We didn’t take the case as it was; we took inspiration from it and made it completely cinematic.
The budget increased by about ten percent than what we initially anticipated. This is the first film coming from our company. We made it with good quality without any compromise. Moreover, when you have a DOP like Karthik, there are many technical additions. The movie’s output has come out with excellent quality.
Indra Ram is a new guy. Initially, I was a bit scared. We did workshops. Even after going on sets, there was a slight fear. However, after two days, he grasped the character.
He performed wonderfully. Indra Ram has a bright future as a hero. Not just him, everyone in this film has performed very well. In this movie, you won’t see the artists, only their characters. They have blended into their roles so naturally
