Mass Protest Against the Exploitation by Digital Content Providers

0

A massive dharna (protest) was organized near the Telugu Film Chamber office under the leadership of the Telangana Film Chamber, opposing the high user charges imposed by digital content providers—Qube, UFO, and PXD—along with the high food prices in cinemas and film piracy. This protest, led by TFCC Chairman Dr. Pratani Ramakrishna Goud, saw participation from producers Lion Sai Venkat, Gururaj, D.S. Reddy, Ravi, actor-hero Sunny, director Siraj, and many other filmmakers and artists.

Speaking on the occasion, TFCC Chairman Dr. Pratani Ramakrishna Goud said:
“Due to the irresponsible actions of three producers acting selfishly, the survival of small films in the Telugu film industry has become questionable. Digital content providers like Qube, UFO, and PXD are collecting ₹10,000 per week from Telugu producers. Because of this, producers are forced to bear at least ₹10 lakh in charges for each film release. In multiplexes alone, the producer has to pay ₹15,000 per week.
In neighboring states, these charges are only between ₹2,500 and ₹3,000. Then why must we pay such high rates here? These three producers, who are partners in these digital content companies, are exploiting the Telugu film industry. Even the theatres are under their control.Food items in theatres cost hundreds of rupees and ticket prices are extremely high. This is preventing ordinary audiences from watching small films in theatres. Out of 250 films released each year, 200 are small films. But today, these small films have no chance of survival.
I have produced nearly 50 films and such conditions did not exist earlier. The government must respond and take necessary action. TFCC will continue this fight. We will even protest in front of the houses of those three producers. The steps taken by the Telangana Police to curb piracy are commendable.”

Producer Lion Sai Venkat said: “Digital content providers have turned into a mafia. Some producers here have colluded with them, exploiting small producers. I produced a film titled Jai Ho Ramanuja, and to release it in 400 theatres, I have to pay ₹50 lakh just to these content providers. How can a small producer survive?
For a common man, watching a film in theatres costs ₹2,000–₹3,000 due to increased ticket and food prices. Because of all this, audiences who should be supporting small films are staying away. The government must intervene. Small films must be protected.”

Producer D.S. Reddy said:“For small films to survive, digital charges, food prices in theatres, and ticket prices must be reduced.”

Producer E. Gururaj said:
“I once produced a film Mangatayaru Tiffin Center with Mumaith Khan, and distributors paid advance amounts. But recently, even after producing films with crores of rupees, I did not get back even a single rupee. This is the situation for small producers today. They are facing multiple forms of exploitation.

Digital content charges, ticket prices, and food prices must be reduced. Otherwise, the industry will be left with only a handful of big producers. Small producers will vanish, and we may not even see one film release per month. Theatres will end up shutting down. I appreciate my fellow TFCC leaders fighting for these issues.”

Actor–Director Siraj said:
“Small films are not getting theatres. OTT and satellite buyers are not taking them. Distributors offer only outside-town theatres where audiences don’t come. The industry survives only if small films survive. Qube and UFO must reduce their rates. Otherwise, these protests will not stop—we will continue them.”

The feeling that “a story is unfolding right in front of our eyes” is what the film Raju Weds Rambai delivers: Producer Sai Krishna

0

Akhil Raj and Tejaswini star together in the film Raju Weds Rambai. The movie is being brought to audiences by ETV Win Originals Production. Presented by Dr. Nageshwar Rao Pujari, it is produced under the banners Dolamukhi Subaltern Films and Monsoons Tales by Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi. Saailu Kampati is directing the film. On November 21, Raju Weds Rambai is being released theatrically by Vamsi Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works, with Vamsi Nandipati and Bunny Vas taking it to audiences with a grand release. During an interaction today, producer Sai Krishna shared the highlights of the film.

There is a belief that OTT platforms mostly offer content meant only for adults. We are breaking that trend by bringing family-friendly movies and series on ETV Win. Following that approach, we’ve already made films like 90’s – A Middle Class Biopic, Air, Anaganaga, and Little Hearts. Back in the day, Ushakiran Movies used to make films that families could watch together. We are shaping ETV Win as a modern extension of that banner. In our country, the middle class is the majority, so we focus on stories that resonate with them – stories that happen around us. When I first heard the script of Raju Weds Rambai, it felt like a native, relatable story.

The story is based on an incident that took place in a village located between the Warangal and Khammam districts. I had also heard about this real incident earlier. When director Saailu narrated the script, we asked him to do a demo shoot. After watching a few scenes, we felt confident that he could handle the movie well. We began the project about a year and a half ago. Some portions of the shoot were delayed because of weather conditions. The villagers initially refused to allow the shooting, but we eventually convinced them.

After the project came to us, we did not make many changes to the story. The original incident on which the film is based has a certain climax. Unsure whether we would approve of that, the team also shot an alternate climax. After watching both, we chose the original climax because it felt more apt. Even though the film deals with a tragic real event, director Sailu crafted it in such a way that it doesn’t feel overly heavy or disturbing. Some dialogues were too specific to the local dialect of that region, so we changed them to make them more broadly understandable for audiences.

The honesty, innocence, and purity within director Saailu are what made this film turn out so well. Watching the movie feels like sitting in a village and experiencing the events live. We gave him complete creative freedom. The budget ended up being slightly higher than planned. Most of the shoot happened in the village, and almost the entire team consists of newcomers.

  • Akhil performed perfectly in the role of Raju. I strongly believe he will earn a name as a promising young hero. Tejaswini did full justice to the character of Rambai. Chaitanya Jonnalagadda, who played Rambai’s father Venkanna, delivered an impressive performance. Our association with Vamsi Nandipati and Bunny Vas has been very successful. After the success of Little Hearts, we hope Raju Weds Rambai becomes another hit for our combination. When we discussed this project with director Venu Udugula, he agreed immediately without any delay.

On ETV Win, the Kanaka Mahalakshmi 2 web series will be released in December, and we are also bringing a film starring Thiruveer to the platform. We aim to stream at least one new movie every month and provide engaging entertainment to our audience.

Star hero Karthi and Studio Green are gearing up for a grand worldwide theatrical release this December with their much-awaited action entertainer, “Annagaru Vastharu.”

Karthi’s highly anticipated film “Va Vaathiyar” is arriving for Telugu audiences under the title “Annagaru Vastharu.” The makers have officially confirmed that the film will hit theatres worldwide in December. Produced by K.E. Gnanavel Raja under the prestigious Studio Green banner, the film is directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and promises a gripping blend of action and comedy. Krithi Shetty plays the female lead.

Karthi appears as a powerful and intense police officer, and the film is already generating strong Pan-India buzz. The recently released teaser received a massive response, further raising expectations that “Annagaru Vastharu” could be another blockbuster in Karthi’s career.

“Killer” Promises to Be a Trend-Setting Science Fiction Film Director Suku Poorvaj Speaks at the ‘Fire and Ice’ Song Launch*

0

The upcoming sci-fi thriller “Killer”, starring Jyothi Poorvaj, Poorvaj, and Manish Gilada in lead roles, is gearing up to surprise audiences with its fresh concept and futuristic storytelling. The film also features Chandrakant Kollu, Vishal Raj, Archana Ananth, Gautham Chakradhar Koppishetti, and others in key roles.

Produced by Poorvaj and Padmanabha Reddy A. under the Think Cinema and AU & I Studios banners, the film is presented by Urveesh Poorvaj and directed by Poorvaj. The team launched the film’s latest track ‘Fire and Ice’ today in Hyderabad.

Speeches at the Event

Action Choreographer Raj Kumar

“Jyothi garu told us she had no experience in action. We planned a sequence with 15 fighters, which took us three hours to prepare. She came in and completed her entire action block in 30 minutes. We were shocked! Her action scenes in this film will receive a huge response.”

Actor Seetharam

“Director Poorvaj is extremely hard-working. We have seen Jyothi on TV, and now she is all set to impress everyone on the big screen. Her performance is fantastic. Audiences will definitely be surprised by ‘Killer.’”

Actor Manish Gilada

“I entered this film like a wild-card entry. Director Poorvaj is showcasing my villainy in a completely new way. The visuals look superb. The audience will thoroughly enjoy this film.”

Actor Vishal Raj

“Acting alongside Jyothi Poorvaj garu in ‘Killer’ made me very happy. She performed exceptionally well. You must watch this film at least for her. Working with director Poorvaj is very easy for any actor—he gives us complete freedom. I just watched the song along with you and I truly wish Poorvaj makes even bigger films in the future.”

Actor Chandu

“You will see content in ‘Killer’ that you have never seen before. Jyothi garu’s acting range will stun everyone. When I once interviewed Poorvaj garu, he asked whether I had interest in acting. Later, he cast me in three out of his four films. Thanks to Suku garu. After this film’s release, people will recognise me as Actor Chandu.”

Actor Gautham Chakradhar

“Becoming an actor was my mother’s dream. With this film, I’m finally seeing myself on the big screen. ‘Killer’ has beautiful visual effects and intense action sequences. You can imagine how much effort the team put into it. Director Poorvaj has made a film that will appeal to everyone.”

Producer Padmanabha Reddy A.

“There are moments in life that make us proud—introducing Poorvaj is one of them. One of his strengths is that he always retains the people who started their careers with him. When we began this film, we didn’t expect such an amazing output. Just as the ‘Fire and Ice’ song reflects dual elements, we were surprised by the visuals, songs, and performances in the film. You will witness killer performances in ‘Killer.’”

Heroine Jyothi Poorvaj

“I wanted to become a doctor, but ended up working in an IT company. Later, I became popular through serials, and now I’m stepping forward as a heroine. None of this was planned—it just happened. After becoming an actor, I always wished to do an action film with strong stunts. I told this to Poorvaj. While we were working on ‘Master Piece,’ he prepared the script for ‘Killer.’
After reading it, I wondered how we could make such a large-scale film. But he made it possible with the help of friends and well-wishers. My team says I performed very well in this film. I simply followed Poorvaj’s instructions. We are bringing a completely new kind of content to you. Please continue supporting us like always.”

Director Poorvaj

“Telugu cinema is moving in a new direction, and ‘Killer’ will be another bold attempt that wins audience appreciation. Once the trailer releases, it will become the talk of the industry.
Jyothi Poorvaj plays five different roles—a Spy, Vampire, Super She, Terrorist, and Raksha Rai—and she has performed all of them brilliantly. We have already revealed a few looks, and the response was tremendous.
The story of this film is built around Artificial Intelligence, and the five roles are interconnected with the futuristic concept. The glimpses and the song you’ve seen today represent only 3% of what we have. The remaining content will be completely surprising.
The idea for ‘Killer’ came while I was working on ‘Master Piece.’ Producer Padmanabha Reddy and the entire team gave me immense support to bring this film to life.”
