Balan: The Boy, jointly produced by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, has emerged as a successful venture. The film is directed by Chidambaram, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed Manjummel Boys, and is based on a script written by Aavesham fame Jithu Madhavan. The movie is produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn.

Released recently in Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil, the film has received an excellent response from audiences and achieved notable success. Annapurna Studios distributed the film across the Telugu states. To celebrate the film’s successful theatrical run, the team organized a Success Meet in Hyderabad.

Speaking at the event, producer Shailaja Desai Fenn said, “Balan: The Boy is the first production from Thespian Films, which has collaborated with KVN Productions on this project. Although this was our first attempt as producers, director Chidambaram placed his trust in us. Our production house was established thanks to the encouragement and support of both Chidambaram and director Priyadarshan. We are also producing a Hindi film titled Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan. Venkat from KVN Productions extended immense support throughout this journey. He believed in our passion and stood by us every step of the way. I sincerely thank him for that.”

Actor and director Sheraz Mehdi has alleged that a major conspiracy is being carried out against small-budget films in the Telugu film industry. Addressing a press conference at the Film Chamber regarding the difficulties faced during the release and re-release of his film O Andala Rakshasi, he expressed deep concern over the treatment of low-budget filmmakers.

Sheraz claimed that the issue is not limited to his film alone and that many producers of small-budget movies are facing injustice. He alleged that theaters often promise screens to small films but withdraw their commitments at the last minute. According to him, politics and favoritism are influencing the theater allocation system, causing significant losses to smaller productions.

He stated that in major cities such as Hyderabad, small films are given only a limited number of shows, often at less favorable time slots when audience turnout is low. As a result, many films fail before they even get a chance to reach viewers.

Sheraz further said that the challenges faced by small films extend beyond theatrical releases. He claimed that low-budget productions encounter obstacles in securing audio rights, satellite rights, OTT platform deals, and overseas distribution opportunities. He also expressed concern that opportunities for new directors and producers are shrinking.

Speaking about O Andala Rakshasi, Sheraz said that everyone who watched the preview appreciated the film and believed it had strong potential. However, he alleged that influential figures within the industry were preventing the film from getting the recognition it deserved.

He stated that despite submitting multiple complaints to the Film Chamber, he had not received a satisfactory response. Sheraz expressed hope that Bharat Bhushan would take steps to address the issues faced by small filmmakers.

The director also revealed that he had sent legal notices to PVR, INOX, and Asian Cinemas regarding what he described as unfair theater allocation practices. He added that if his film had received adequate support during its initial release, there would have been no need for a re-release.

Sheraz urged the governments of the Telugu states to introduce special incentives and support schemes for small-budget films, noting that several other states provide subsidies to filmmakers. He said that while many people in the industry are aware of these issues, they are reluctant to speak openly out of fear.

Concluding his remarks, Sheraz stated that he is determined to fight for what he believes is right. He also hinted that if the situation does not improve, he may consider leaving the Telugu film industry and working in other language industries.

Despite being released amid controversies, Police Complaint has continued its successful run across all centers and has entered its second week with strong audience support. Producer Balakrishna Maharana expressed happiness over the film’s performance and revealed that the number of screens has been increased in several regions due to growing demand.

He also stated that a special song dedicated to the late Superstar Krishna has received an overwhelming response from fans.

Director Sanjeev Megoti said the film is based on the unique concept of the “Chain Reaction of Karma,” blending horror-thriller elements with action entertainment. He added that the story has been crafted to offer audiences a fresh cinematic experience, while the distinctive characterization has helped the film connect with viewers across all age groups.

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a woman farmer and independent film producer, Narsamma, has made an emotional public appeal to Pan-India superstar Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Under her banner 8th Wonder Cinemas, Narsamma produced a small-budget film titled “Spirit is Not One”. However, due to a sudden legal dispute raised by the makers of Prabhas’ upcoming big-budget venture “Spirit”, her movie’s release has been stalled, pushing her family to the brink of financial ruin.

A Dream Shattered by Legal Notices
Speaking about her plight, Narsamma stated that producing this film was her childhood dream. To fund the project, her family of farmers sold off their lands and assets, exhausting all their life savings.

The movie had completed all formalities, including securing a Censor Certificate a year before Prabhas’ “Spirit” even began its shoot. 8th Wonder Cinemas had actively promoted the film across various news portals, YouTube channels, and newspapers. However, just last month, as they printed posters and finalised the theatrical release, they were slapped with two consecutive legal notices from Bollywood giant T-Series, headed by Bhushan Kumar (the producers of Prabhas’ Spirit).

“Like a hammer crushing a sparrow, they used legal notices to stop our small movie. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s manager collected our address and details under the guise of an enquiry, only to pass them on to T-Series to serve us these notices,” a tearful Narsamma alleged.

Social Humiliation and Financial Distress
The sudden stalling of the movie has triggered a severe crisis for the farmer’s family. Narsamma explained that investors who initially promised release funds have backed out. Furthermore, lenders are mounting heavy pressure to clear outstanding debts.

“People in our village are mocking us. They think we deliberately orchestrated this legal notice as an excuse to avoid paying back our debts. Our reputation is completely ruined. If they had just approached us directly, we would have happily changed the title. But instead of supporting a farming family trying to make a movie, the film industry has completely isolated us,” she added.

An Earnest Appeal to Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga
Stressing that she holds no ill-will against Prabhas or Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Narsamma requested the superstar to intervene personally. She believes Prabhas might be unaware of the ground realities and the aggressive tactics adopted by his co-producers.

Her key demands and appeals include:

Title Flexibility: The team of Spirit is Not One is fully willing to change their film’s title if it conflicts with Prabhas’ commercial interests, provided the issue is resolved amicably in the presence of industry elders.

Withdrawal of Objections: She requested T-Series to withdraw their legal notices and issue an official No Objection Certificate (NOC) so that her film can be released in theatres and on digital/OTT platforms.

A Humble Request to Postpone Spirit: Since theirs is a tiny project that needs immediate clearance to save their lives, she folded her hands and requested Prabhas to postpone his movie Spirit just until her small film completes its brief theatrical run.

Legal Recourse as a Last Resort
While Narsamma reiterated her desire for an amicable, mutual resolution, she made it clear that her family is backed into a corner.

“This film holds our blood, sweat, and tears. If our plea falls on deaf ears and no justice is served, we will be forced to approach the court of law. We will legally fight for our rights, demanding compensation for the massive financial losses and defamation we have suffered due to this sudden blockade,” she warned.

The film fraternity and netizens are now waiting to see if Prabhas, known for his philanthropic nature and supportive attitude towards small films, will step forward to rescue this distressed woman farmer.

It’s a female oriented film, it’s a Samantha show all the way.

Coming to the story Swarna(Samantha) along with her husband Anirudh(Diganth) who is a doctor head to their village to attend Ani’s sister marriage.

Ani’s marriage with Swarna is not accepted by his parents and they are reluctantly received when they go there for marriage, Samantha for her  acceptance into the family competes with her younger daughter-in-law Sreemukhi in doing house-hold chores and dishes to be the Maa Inti Bangaram of the house.

Ani’s brother Chaitanya is a local police officer and his father is a local politician and he has tussle with politician Madhusudan Rao(Vadlamani Srinivas) in MLA ticket allocation.

Samantha’s past comes haunting her in the form of Karuna(Devaiah), where it was shown she was an orphan and after facing many struggles and to escape male exploitation she joins the Devaiah gang in the forest, where she is trained in self protection and other martial arts.

Karuna(Devaiah) has a bad motive in running the gang using innocent people and he resorts to extortion and other illegal activities for financial gain,on a tip off from the same gang he goes to Jail.

The rest of the story is how Karuna(Devaiah) comes back to the village to attack Samantha in revenge mode, and how Samantha values and protects her family from Karuna(Devaiah) and Madhusudan Rao.

Snehageetam fame Chaitnya has a nice little role as police officer and performed well, Sreemukhi as his wife and family’s younger daughter-in-law did well.

Karuna(Devaiah) was ferocious and ruthless as naxal gang leader,Madhusudan Rao(Vadlamani Srinivas) performed well in his cameo.

It’s a Samantha show all the way she performed excellently in action sequences, emotional and drama episodes, she stole the show as savior of the family and to be Maa Inti Bangaram of the family.

Director Nandini Reddy coming back after a long hiatus narrated a good story in the form of Maa Inti Bangaram.
