Controversy Couldn’t Save It

The Kannada controversy, unfortunately, couldn’t significantly help “Thug Life,” despite generating millions of rupees in free publicity.

This film, which brought together the Kamal Haasan – Mani Ratnam combination after 38 years since “Nayakan,” failed to achieve even minimal openings in our Telugu states. With “negative word-of-mouth,” collections further declined even by the matinee shows.

Analysts are expressing disappointment, stating that Mani Ratnam, who had made a comeback with the “Ponniyan Selvan” films, has once again severely disappointed with “Thug Life.” It is regrettable that even in Tamil, the film is not collecting as expected.

Senior Actor and Producer Murali Mohan Inaugurates Exotic Fruit, Vegetable, and Grocery Store at Alkapuri Township, Manikonda

Senior actor, producer, and politician Murali Mohan inaugurated the Exotic Fruit, Vegetable, and Grocery Store at Alkapuri Township in Manikonda. NN Kishore, Archana Reddy, and Vinod Kumar are the Managing Directors behind the launch of the store. It offers fresh organic fruits, vegetables, juices, dry fruits, and all grocery items at affordable prices.

Speaking on the occasion, Murali Mohan said:
“I’m happy to inaugurate the Exotic Fruit, Vegetable, and Grocery Store. When NN Kishore, Archana Reddy, and Vinod Kumar approached me and explained the concept, I was quite impressed. These days, many people claim to sell organic products, but often they are not genuine. However, this store sources directly from farmers and delivers fresh produce to customers at reasonable prices. I’ve seen the products myself — they’re really fresh.

In today’s busy life, it’s very convenient to have everything in one place. They are also planning to enroll local residents as members and expand the Exotic brand with branches in other areas. I hope Exotic becomes a well-known brand and offers great service to the public.”

Exotic Store MD NN Kishore said:
“We are thankful to Murali Mohan garu for inaugurating our Exotic Fruit, Vegetable, and Grocery Store. We procure organic fruits and vegetables directly from farmers and sell them to customers at reasonable rates. We don’t stock large quantities — we only bring in what’s needed for the day, ensuring everything is fresh. Along with fruits, vegetables, juices, dry fruits, and grocery items, we also offer rare juices like ash gourd juice and green leafy vegetable juices. We are planning to expand our store nationwide, and later, globally, as a franchise.”

Exotic Store MD Vinod Kumar added:
“Our goal at Exotic is to provide customers with fresh organic fruits and vegetables at the best prices. In just a few months, people will be able to see the difference between our store and other so-called organic stores. We thank Murali Mohan garu for attending our store’s opening and blessing us. We are set to expand as a franchise across various regions.”

Dammalapati Srinivasa Rao in the Race for A.P.F.D.C. Chairman Post

Coalition Government Appears Positive.

Even after completing a year in office, the Andhra Pradesh government is facing strong criticism for not appointing a Chairman for the Film Development Corporation (APFDC). However, sources indicate that the government is now preparing to take a final decision on the matter.

In this context, the name of noted film producer Dammalapati Srinivasa Rao, also known as D.S. Rao, has emerged as a hot topic. Known for producing films with popular actors like Nani, Nikhil, and Manchu Manoj, D.S. Rao also holds vast experience in exhibition and distribution. Many believe he is a well-qualified candidate for the position.

Although several names had surfaced earlier for this post, many of them were blocked due to group politics and lobbying. D.S. Rao’s neutral stance—not being affiliated with any particular faction—seems to be working in his favor. From the beginning of his career, he has stayed away from controversies and groupism, which is expected to be an asset for someone taking up such a prestigious position.

In recent months, D.S. Rao has been busy launching his son as a hero in the film industry. Despite this, the film fraternity is reportedly offering him unanimous support for the APFDC Chairman role. Known as a friendly, well-educated, and controversy-free individual, his appointment could greatly benefit the Telugu film industry.

Telangana Police Step Up Vehicle Challan Collections to Boost Government Coffers

0

Hyderabad, Telangana — In a move that has drawn both applause and criticism, the Telangana Police have intensified their traffic enforcement efforts across the state, leading to a surge in vehicle challan collections. The campaign, widely perceived as a strategy to increase government revenue, has led to the issuance of lakhs of challans in recent months.

According to data released by the Telangana Traffic Police, the state has collected over ₹1300 crore in traffic fines in the last fiscal year — a sharp rise compared to previous years. This surge is attributed to the increased use of automated traffic monitoring systems, surveillance cameras, and stricter enforcement of helmet, seat belt, and speed limit violations.

Revenue or Road Safety?

While officials maintain that the campaign is aimed at improving road safety and discipline among motorists, critics argue that the aggressive challan drive appears to prioritize revenue generation over genuine safety concerns.

“This is less about safety and more about swelling the government’s coffers,” said , a civil rights activist based in Hyderabad. “Minor infractions are being penalized heavily, and many citizens feel harassed by what seems like a relentless fine-collection drive.”

Automated Enforcement on the Rise

The state has invested significantly in tech-enabled policing, installing over 9,000 high-resolution cameras across major junctions in Hyderabad and other cities. These devices automatically detect violations like signal jumping, triple riding, and riding without helmets, issuing e-challans directly to vehicle owners’ mobile phones and email IDs.

“Digital enforcement reduces corruption and increases transparency,” said a senior official with the Hyderabad Traffic Police. “Yes, revenue has gone up, but so has compliance. We are seeing better helmet use and fewer serious accidents.”

Public Frustration Grows

However, many commuters complain of errors in the automated challan system and a lack of avenues for swift dispute resolution. Several vehicle owners report receiving fines for violations they claim they never committed, particularly for vehicles sold years ago but not updated in government databases.

Government Defends Strategy

The Telangana government, meanwhile, has defended the initiative, noting that funds collected from traffic fines are being reinvested into road safety programs, public transport infrastructure, and emergency response services.

Conclusion

As Telangana pushes forward with tech-driven policing, the debate continues: is this a much-needed crackdown on traffic indiscipline, or an aggressive attempt to fill government coffers under the guise of safety? While the revenue impact is undeniable, citizens are calling for more transparency, accuracy, and fairness in how challans are issued and contested.
