Rebel Star Prabhas, who created a storm across Bollywood with the Baahubali series, has faced a string of three back-to-back flops after that success. Though he made a strong comeback with Salaar and is now back in full form with Kalki, debates about his Bollywood standing continue.
Adding to the discussion, Bollywood circles are abuzz after the announcement that Durandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, will release on the same day as Raja Saab, in which Prabhas plays the lead. A Prabhas film releasing alongside Durandhar has naturally sparked heated debates in the industry.
It’s worth noting that Prabhas made a special appearance in the recently released Kannappa, which performed moderately well in Telugu states but failed to make any impact in North India. Moreover, several Bollywood analysts openly commented that the success of Kalki largely belongs to Amitabh Bachchan rather than Prabhas.
This is being seen as the reason why the makers of Durandhar are confident about releasing their film alongside a Prabhas starrer without hesitation.
Interestingly, both Raja Saab and Durandhar feature Sanjay Dutt in key roles. Durandhar also boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Akshaye Khanna, Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
With four and a half months to go, it’s possible that efforts will be made to avoid a box-office clash between Raja Saab and Durandhar.
Here’s the twist — Durandhar is reportedly inspired by certain key incidents from the life of India’s current National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, who is known for his close association with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
The battle at the box office will be interesting to watch!
