In this movie, he will be seen as a scientist working on CNA Integration and the RAI Protocol. While directing this unique sci-fi thriller, Poorvaaj is also playing a key role in the film. He is set to impress audiences both as a director and as an actor.
India’s roads are among the busiest in the world. With rapid urbanization, rising vehicle ownership, and expanding cities, pedestrians often find themselves at the bottom of the traffic priority list. Walking — the most basic and environmentally friendly mode of transport — has become increasingly unsafe and inconvenient in many Indian cities.
Major Difficulties Faced by Pedestrians
1. Lack of Proper Footpaths
In many cities and towns, footpaths are either missing, broken, too narrow, or encroached upon by vendors, parked vehicles, and utility poles. This forces pedestrians to walk on the road alongside fast-moving traffic, increasing accident risks.
2. Unsafe Road Crossing
Crossing roads is one of the biggest challenges. Zebra crossings are faded or ignored, pedestrian signals are absent or non-functional, and vehicles rarely yield. On wide multi-lane roads, pedestrians often run across gaps in traffic, putting their lives at risk.
3. High Traffic Speeds
Speeding vehicles, especially on arterial roads and highways passing through cities, make walking and crossing extremely dangerous. Many drivers fail to slow down near schools, markets, and residential areas.
4. Poor Infrastructure Design
Flyovers and underpasses are often built to ease vehicle movement but neglect pedestrian access. Foot overbridges, where available, may lack ramps or elevators, making them inaccessible to elderly people, children, and persons with disabilities.
5. Inadequate Lighting and Safety
Dimly lit streets and deserted walkways create safety concerns, especially for women and senior citizens during early morning and late evening hours.
6. Weak Enforcement of Traffic Rules
Even where pedestrian-friendly rules exist, enforcement is often weak. Drivers stopping on zebra crossings, ignoring red lights, or parking on sidewalks is common.
Why This Is a Serious Issue
According to various road safety reports, pedestrians account for a significant percentage of road accident fatalities in India. Walking is common among school children, elderly citizens, and low-income groups who may not own vehicles. Unsafe walking conditions disproportionately affect vulnerable sections of society.
Solutions to Improve Pedestrian Safety
1. Build Continuous and Accessible Footpaths
Cities must prioritize constructing wide, obstruction-free, and well-maintained footpaths. Designs should follow universal accessibility standards with ramps and tactile paving for visually impaired persons.
2. Safe and Visible Crossings
Clearly marked zebra crossings
Pedestrian traffic signals with countdown timers
Raised crosswalks and speed tables near schools and markets
Refuge islands on wide roads
These measures slow vehicles and make crossings safer.
3. Strict Speed Control
Lower speed limits in urban and residential areas
Installation of speed cameras
Speed breakers near pedestrian-heavy zones
Slower traffic significantly reduces the severity of accidents.
4. Better Urban Planning
Road projects should adopt a “complete streets” approach, giving equal importance to pedestrians, cyclists, public transport, and vehicles. Pedestrian pathways must be integrated into flyover and highway designs.
5. Strong Law Enforcement
Traffic police must strictly enforce rules related to yielding at crossings, illegal parking on sidewalks, and speeding. Heavy penalties can deter violations.
6. Public Awareness Campaigns
Drivers need education about pedestrian rights. Campaigns in schools, media, and driving institutes can promote respectful road behavior.
7. Community Participation
Local residents, RWAs, and civic groups should report damaged footpaths and unsafe crossings. Citizen feedback can help authorities prioritize improvements.
The Way Forward
Walking should not feel like a risky activity. A city that is safe for pedestrians is safer for everyone. Improving pedestrian infrastructure not only reduces accidents but also promotes healthier lifestyles, reduces pollution, and enhances overall urban quality of life.
If India aims to build smart and sustainable cities, prioritizing pedestrian safety must become a central part of transport planning — not an afterthought.
After delivering a blockbuster like Bichagadu, the multi-talented Vijay Antony is teaming up once again with director Sasi for their upcoming film Vanda Devullu. The project is produced by Ramanjaneyulu Javvaji under the Sarvanth Ram Creations banner, presented by Vijay Antony Film Corporation and Fatima Vijay Antony. The film features Vijay Antony, Swasika, Ajay, Kavya, Shakthi, Padini, Karnas, Balaji Sakthivel, Divakar, Aruldoss, Bucks, Vinodhini, Munishkanth, and Kodangi Vadivel in key roles.
The recently released first-look poster has already generated strong buzz, especially with the intense, mass-appeal appearances of Vijay Antony and Swasika receiving terrific response. Now, the team has unveiled the soothing melody ‘Idi Kalano’, and it has instantly struck a chord with listeners.
Balaji Sriram’s composition stands out as the heart of the song. The tune flows like a gentle breeze. It’s soft, immersive, and emotionally resonant. The arrangement beautifully blends subtle orchestration with a warm melodic structure, allowing the emotions to breathe. The interplay of strings and soft percussion elevates the romantic mood, making it a classic Vijay Antony–style soulful number with a fresh musical texture.
Lyricist Bhashyasree contributes deeply poetic lines that perfectly capture the delicate emotions of love, longing, and dreamlike connection. His writing paints vivid emotional imagery, making the song feel intimate and heartfelt. The soothing vocals of Shibhi Srinivasan and Sireesha Bhagavatula further enrich the song. Their voices complement each other beautifully, delivering a calm yet emotionally charged performance. The tenderness in their rendition amplifies the song’s romantic flavour, making every note linger in the listener’s mind.
The visuals featuring Vijay Antony and Swasika add another layer of charm. Their screen presence, subtle expressions, and the graceful way they portray their blooming affection make the song visually captivating.
SB Darshan Kirlosh handles the cinematography. Balaji Sriram is the music director, Harish Yuvaraj serves as the editor, and Bhashyasree has penned the dialogues.
The team promises more exciting updates in the coming weeks. Vanda Devullu is gearing up for a grand summer release in May, aiming to delight audiences as a special seasonal treat.

Malayalam star Tovino Thomas is playing the lead in the big-budget film “Pallichattambi.” The movie is being produced by Noufael, Brijesh, and Chanakya, Chaitanya, Charan under the banners of Worldwide Films and C Cube Bros Entertainments. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film features Kayadu Lohar as the female lead. The movie has generated huge expectations at a pan-India level and is set for a grand theatrical release on April 10th in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. In a recent interview, Tovino Thomas and Kayadu Lohar shared highlights about the film.
Hero Tovino Thomas said:
I have known director Dijo for a long time. We had been wanting to work together on a project and had discussed several ideas. However, due to my existing commitments, I couldn’t collaborate with him immediately. We stayed in touch, and when he narrated the story of “Pallichattambi,” I found it very exciting and decided to take it up. After completing my earlier commitments, and once Dijo finished his other projects including “Jana Gana Mana,” we began working on this film. Initially, there was a change in producers, and we brought new producers on board.
According to the story, the hero needed to look physically strong and powerful enough to take on villains. So I gained weight for the role. Until then, I had been dieting, but I stopped for this film. I also changed my hairstyle and mustache to achieve a strong look. Working with Dijo is very comfortable, he’s calm on set and never seems to lose his temper.
During breaks from shooting, I like to go on vacations. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I don’t prefer hectic back-to-back schedules. Taking breaks helps me observe the industry from an outsider’s perspective. Although I’m part of the industry, I like to look at it objectively. I’ve had discussions about several Telugu projects, but none have been finalized. I am currently in a strong position in Malayalam cinema, and moving to another language might affect those who trust me with projects there. Even without doing a Telugu film, I’m happy that Telugu audiences appreciate my Malayalam movies.
I have previously worked with producers Noufael and Brijesh, who distributed my earlier films. Director Dijo ensured that there were no compromises in anything required for this project. I’m also happy that producers Chaitanya, Chanakya, and Charan from Telugu cinema joined this film. Jakes Bejoy has enhanced the intensity and emotional depth of the film with his music. I’ve worked with him before, he’s an excellent composer.
“Pallichattambi” is a fictional story inspired by incidents from 1950s Kerala. It portrays the social conditions of that time without imposing any personal opinions. Once you watch the film, you’ll understand its soul. The central message is about humanity, no one is superior or inferior. It’s a beautiful emotional film meant for family audiences.
The film does not portray any religion negatively. While there are scenes set in a church, the story would remain the same even if another place of worship were used. The film mainly focuses on socio-political elements. Language is not a barrier to enjoying cinema, we all watch and enjoy films from around the world through OTT platforms. Even though I don’t know Telugu, I enjoyed many Telugu films as a child. There are no plans for a sequel to this film.
Heroine Kayadu Lohar said:
This is a much more meaningful project for me compared to “Dragon.” Director Dijo approached me after watching my Malayalam film “Pathonpatham Noottandu.” After hearing the story, I felt this would be a special film in my career. I play a character named Rebecca, which is very different from anything I’ve done before. She is intellectual and rooted, and not portrayed from a glamour perspective. My role has significant importance in the film. I believe this movie will elevate my position as an actress.
When working in languages I’m not familiar with, I always attend workshops. I take help from language experts and spend about 5–10 days understanding the script before going on set. I did the same for this film. I also did some research and read books, but Dijo advised me to stick to the script, as too much research can sometimes lead to confusion.
I appear in two different looks in the film. The director had complete clarity about how my character should appear. Sometimes it was challenging when well-prepared dialogues were changed at the last minute. I usually perform confidently with any co-actor, but I felt a bit nervous acting alongside Tovino. His performance level is very high, and I learned a lot from him. I was inspired by him while acting.
“Pallichattambi” is a beautiful emotional film that all family audiences can watch together. There are no category restrictions for this movie. Once you watch it, you’ll understand the intention behind making it. There is no specific agenda behind the film.
Hyderabad: The title song “King Buddha – We Want World Peace” was officially launched by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Buddhism Religious Affairs, Dr. Sunil Senevi, at a grand event held at ITC Kakatiya, Hyderabad.
Speaking at the समारोह, Dr. Sunil Senevi praised director Satya Reddy’s noble initiative of promoting global peace through the film King Buddha. He emphasized the need to end ongoing conflicts across the world, including tensions between Iran–Israel and Ukraine–Russia, and appreciated the film’s strong message advocating peace.
He expressed happiness that the film has been initiated in the United States and is being shot across several Buddhist countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Indonesia. He also assured full support from Sri Lanka for upcoming shooting schedules. He remarked that King Buddha will stand as a unique film in world cinema history for being shot across numerous Buddhist nations.
Recalling the devastating impact of atomic bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he stressed that the world must avoid another global war and adopt the path of peace. He stated that Buddhism remains a guiding force for global harmony and highlighted that thousands of Buddhist monks are conducting peace walks worldwide, receiving immense public support.
Dr. Sunil Senevi also revealed that he had watched some portions of the film shot in Hollywood and lauded director Satya Reddy for his exceptional work.
On this occasion, the King Buddha film team honored the minister with floral garlands and traditional shawls.
Director Satya Reddy, speaking at the event, said that after a 30-year-long career in cinema, bringing the story of Gautama Buddha to the global audience through King Buddha is a dream come true. He announced that the film is planned for a worldwide release in over 100 languages in 2027. He further stated that the film is being made with cutting-edge technology never seen before.
Currently, key sequences depicting the birth, childhood, and education of Gautama Buddha are being filmed in Nepal, including locations in the Himalayas, Lumbini, and Kathmandu.
Malayalam star hero Tovino Thomas is starring in the big-budget film “Pallichattambi.” The movie is being produced by Noufal, Brijeesh, and Chanukya, Chaitanya, Charan under the banners of World Wide Films and C Cube Bros Entertainments. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film features Kayadu Lohar as the heroine. The movie has created huge pan-India expectations and is set for a grand theatrical release on April 10 in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. A grand release press meet was held yesterday in Hyderabad. Producer and distributor Bunny Vas graced the event.
He said, “Director Maruthi introduced me to this team, saying that some people we know are producing a film in Malayalam. After speaking with them, I understood that they were making a prestigious movie. They took me to Kochi and showed me the film. It was surprising to see Telugu people going to Kerala and making such a huge film. The movie is technically very rich and grand. It will feel like a new kind of commercial film for Telugu audiences. Usually, we think of Malayalam films as concept-oriented, but ‘Pallichattambi’ is a big, proper commercial entertainer. This film will become a big success in Telugu.”,
Giving suggestion to young producers, he said “But I would like to give you one suggestion, don’t immediately jump into making a Telugu film. If you want to make a film in Telugu, you have to be very careful. The kind of comfort you have while producing in Malayalam does not exist in Telugu. I am saying this as a senior producer. Because the revenue that comes from a successful Telugu film is actually less compared to the revenue from a successful Malayalam film. The theatrical revenues we are getting in Telugu are not as high as those in Malayalam. Producers there are quite happy with their theatrical returns.”
He added, “I’m very happy that Megha Shyam, who came to us about ten years ago and has been traveling with us since then, is now working as an associate producer for this film. We released Tovino’s ‘2018’ in Telugu, and it was a good success. His performance and fights in this film are very impressive, I felt like I was watching Mohanlal garu.”
Kayadu Lohar already has many fans in the Telugu states. With films like ‘Dragon’ and ‘Funky,’ you have become closer to the Telugu audience. With ‘Pallichattambi,’ you will become the next rising star in Telugu. You will reach an even better position here. After watching this film, everyone will fall in love with Kayadu once again, and her fan base will grow even more.
I really liked the way the director made this film and the way it was edited. If you want to watch a new kind of commercial movie, watch ‘Pallichattambi’ in theatres.
On April 8, on the occasion of Allu Arjun’s birthday, the title and poster of his film with Atlee will be released. Today, cinema has no language barriers. Telugu cinema has become a pan-world cinema. We need to bring more films from other languages into Telugu. Only then will the distribution and theatre system improve. That is why I am releasing as many films as possible in Telugu. For this film, I especially liked the screenplay.”
‘Carmeni Selvam’ is a bilingual film made in Telugu and Tamil under the Pathway Productions banner, produced by Arun Rangarajulu and directed by Ram Chakri. Versatile actor Samuthirakani plays the lead role, while Gautham Vasudev Menon appears in a key role. The film also stars Lakshmi Priya, Abhinaya, Karthik Kumar, Badava Gopi, Kothandam, Karan Chakravarthi, Shankara Narayanan V, and Haritha Parakod in important roles. The movie is set for a grand theatrical release on April 3 in both Telugu and Tamil, distributed by PVR INOX Pictures.
On this occasion, director Ram Chakri shared his thoughts:
“I watched ‘Arya’ as my first Telugu film. After that, I watched ‘Anand’ and ‘Godavari.’ At that time, I understood one thing very clearly, the Telugu film industry beautifully embraces two very different storytelling styles. On one side, there are energetic, commercial films like ‘Arya,’ and on the other, there are realistic, heart-touching films like ‘Anand’ and ‘Godavari’ by Sekhar Kammula. That balance inspired me a lot.
I never got the opportunity to work directly with Sekhar Kammula garu, but I consider him my teacher and mentor. I learned a great deal by watching his films. I also thank my directing mentor K. V. Guhan garu. Both of them have been major sources of inspiration for me.
Coming to ‘Carmeni Selvam,’ the film is based on middle-class life. Everyone who watches it will connect with the story. Especially for those who are struggling with debt, this film will give them courage. Debt is quite common in middle-class families, and we are showing how it affects relationships within the family and the decisions they make. The film is very realistic.
Samuthirakani garu has brought out every shade of his character brilliantly. As a middle-class husband and father, he has delivered a deeply emotional performance. Along with him, Gautham Menon garu, Lakshmi Priya, and Abhinaya have also delivered performances that will impress the audience.
Our technical team has been very supportive. When it comes to music, we are introducing a new concept for this film. Under the title ‘Music as a Service,’ our music director Ramanujan and his team worked collaboratively. They believe music is not just the work of a composer or singers, but a collective effort involving instrumentalists, sound engineers, mixing teams, and many other technicians. Through this concept, our goal is to give credit and share revenue with everyone who contributed to each song. This is our small effort to recognize the real heroes behind the music.
Our DOP Yuvaraj Dakshan and editor Jagan have great experience. When you watch the film in theaters, you will understand how grandly we have presented the story visually.
I would also like to thank our producer Arun Rangarajulu garu for believing in this story and supporting us in making the film with high quality.
Through this film, I want to convey an important message. Many elders in families are working abroad while their families stay here. I sincerely request them to return and spend time with their families at least once or twice a year. This film will connect strongly with every middle-class family.”
The Allu Arjun Fans Association has stepped forward to support the HPV vaccination drive. Inspired by the words of Icon Star Allu Arjun, who encourages doing at least one good deed every year, AAFA has taken up this initiative. The association plans to conduct awareness programs throughout the year to educate people about the importance of the HPV vaccine.
By taking the HPV vaccine, young girls can be protected from Cervical Cancer and lead healthier lives. Girls and women between the ages of 9 and 26 can receive this vaccine free of cost through government hospitals. As part of the central government’s “Swasth Nari Viksit Bharat” program, the vaccine is being provided free of charge to girls and women across the country.
It is commendable that AAFA has chosen to support such a meaningful social cause on the occasion of Allu Arjun’s birthday on April 8th. This initiative will inspire other fandoms to serve the public.
E20 Petrol Rolls Out Nationwide in India — What It Means for Drivers
India has officially made E20 petrol the standard fuel at all petrol pumps across the country from April 1, 2026. This marks a major shift in the nation’s energy and fuel policy.
What Is E20 Petrol?
“E20” refers to petrol blended with up to 20 % ethanol and 80 % traditional petrol. Ethanol is an alcohol-based biofuel made primarily from crops like sugarcane, maize, and other agricultural produce.
Under the new mandate, all petrol sold in India must contain 20% ethanol and meet a minimum Research Octane Number (RON) of 95. This higher octane rating is meant to improve combustion quality and protect engines.
Why the Government Is Pushing E20
The central government’s move is tied to several long-term goals:
Reducing crude oil imports: By blending ethanol, India aims to lower its dependence on imported fossil fuels.
Supporting farmers: Increased ethanol demand helps sugarcane and maize growers by creating a steady market for their produce.
Lower emissions: Ethanol burns cleaner than pure petrol, which can help reduce greenhouse gas output from vehicles.
Officials hope these benefits will support energy security and environmental goals for the coming decade.
Concerns from Vehicle Owners and Industry
While the rollout is nationwide, many vehicles on Indian roads are not designed for E20 fuel. Reports suggest that only a small fraction of older cars and two-wheelers have engines fully compatible with a 20 % ethanol blend — raising worries among motorists.
Some owners are concerned about:
Fuel efficiency drops
Potential engine wear in older vehicles
Compatibility issues in cars designed for lower ethanol blends
These concerns echo surveys and industry conversations over the past year about real-world impacts on mileage and engine components.
What Drivers Should Do Now
Check vehicle compatibility: Owners of older cars and bikes should verify whether their engine is E20-ready.
Stay informed on fuel updates: Automotive manufacturers and the government may issue guidance on maintenance with ethanol blends.
Monitor performance: Any unusual drops in mileage or engine issues should be examined by qualified mechanics.
Looking Ahead
With the E20 policy now fully in place, discussions have already begun within the government and auto industry about future blends like E25 or higher ethanol mixes — though these are still in early stages of evaluation.
Summary:
India’s nationwide switch to E20 petrol from April 1, 2026, represents a significant step in its biofuel strategy, aiming to cut imports, reduce emissions, and benefit farmers. However, the transition brings questions about vehicle readiness and real-world impacts on older engines.
